Russian language centre celebrates end of term

The Russian lanuguage centre, based in Callao Salvaje, celebrated the end of the academic year with an event in the Adeje Escuela de Seguridad y Convivencia /School of security and social harmony, in the presence of Councillor Zebenzui Chinea Linares. The graduation ceremony was held on June 6th.

The school has 30 pupils, mostly children of Russian families living in Tenerife, many in the borough of Adeje, where 1,400 Russians are currently residing. The Russian language centre has been in operation for a number of years, and as well as teaching the Russian language also has lessons on Russian history and culture. This year’s end of term event was dedicated to poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, who is considered the father of Russian literary language and the founder of modern Russian literature.

Many family members were present for the celebrations which featured performances by the students. During the event the centre’s director, Elenna Sorokko, thanked the Adeje council for its support and assistance during the year.
